LPWA boom

According to research by leading analysts at IoT analyst ON World, LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) technology should experience exponential growth in the upcoming years. It is therefore expected that at the end of 2025, LPWA will cover a quarter of industrial IoT (IIoT).

Research suggests that the number of LPWAs that are used for wireless sensors and control applications will increase from 35 million recorded in 2016 to half a billion by the end of 2025.

This technology offers long distance communication at low transmission rates, which is mainly used for sensors or other devices that are require low power consumption. With this specialization, LPWA is becoming a more efficient solution than permanent mobile networks and can connect more devices at greater distances.

If the prediction comes true, IIoT developers will see accelerated progress in developing and deploying applications over the coming years. Companies and states that decide to use this technology will experience a new era of economic growth and industrial expansion.
