Robustel EG5120 Industrial Gateway (EG5120-A2AAZ-4L-A06GL)
The Robustel EG5120 is a powerful industrial gateway designed for Edge Computing. By processing information locally within the device, it eliminates the unnecessary transfer of large volumes of data to the cloud. This saves bandwidth and storage capacity while sending only relevant information to the higher-level system.
Examples of Applications
- Warehouse safety and efficiency: The system verifies available space and detects overhangs or other risks before an object approaches. Data processing and model execution take place locally on the device, with only alerts related to specific events forwarded to internal systems. Sending metadata instead of complete video streams significantly reduces data traffic and bandwidth requirements.
- Predictive maintenance: The device collects vibration and energy-consumption data via RS-485 / Modbus interfaces. Data models evaluate potential anomalies directly at their source, then publish events to maintenance platforms via MQTT or REST. A secure VPN connection ensures reliable protection of transmitted data.
- Intelligent traffic management: The solution connects control units, sensors, and cameras in one place. Vehicle counting and classification are performed locally on the device, while only summarized event results are sent to the ITS platform. Two SIM card slots provide redundant, uninterrupted connectivity, while centralized management features simplify overall operation.
High-Performance Hardware and Industrial Applications
Higher computing performance is provided by a 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of eMMC flash storage. These specifications enable the gateway to function as a fully featured industrial router with an integrated embedded computer. The EG5120 provides connectivity between automation components, sensors, and control interfaces to ensure their efficient interaction.
Connectivity and Software Environment
The Robustel EG5120 provides mobile connectivity across global 4G, 3G, and 2G networks. It is equipped with a full Debian operating system (ARMv8 architecture, compatible with Raspberry Pi), enabling the operation of thousands of existing and new applications. Support for the Docker containerization tool ensures secure application isolation across Linux environments. VPN support is also included for secure internet connectivity and encrypted data transmission between the device and the target network.
Remote Management and Model Equipment
The gateway is supported by the free RCMS (Robustel Cloud Manager Service) cloud service, which enables remote monitoring, management, and diagnostics of devices, significantly reducing operating costs.
The EG5120-A2AAZ-4L-A06GL model includes cellular and GPS modules. A Wi-Fi module is not included in this model.
