Industrial Edge Gateway Robustel EG3120e
The Robustel EG3120e represents a new generation of industrial edge gateways that combines highly stable LTE Cat 4 cellular connectivity, advanced connectivity management using eSIM, and high computing power. It enables running local tasks, protocol conversion, data collection, buffering, and edge applications closer to industrial devices, thereby reducing reliance on external computers or standalone serial concentrators where the application's requirements match the device's capabilities.
Typical Use Cases
- Solar Energy and Distributed Grids: Monitoring photovoltaic inverters, battery storage systems, and EV charging stations via RS-485/CAN, and local telemetry processing.
- Smart Metering and Energy: Data collection from industrial heat, gas, and electricity meters, consumption recalculation at the grid edge, and secure transmission to ERP systems.
- Machine Maintenance (OEMs): Integrating the gateway directly into production machines. The EG3120e collects data from vibration or temperature sensors, evaluates anomalies on-site, and alerts to the risk of failure.
- Remote Infrastructure Management: Secure connection of isolated sites (water management, pipelines, weather stations) with the headquarters using backup eSIM connectivity.
High Computing Power (Edge Computing)
High hardware performance is ensured by a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, combined with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of eMMC flash storage.
Global Connectivity with eSIM Support (SGP.22)
In addition to a standard Mini SIM slot, it features an integrated eSIM (MFF2) compliant with the GSMA SGP.22 standard. This enables remote Over-the-Air downloading and switching of operator profiles, simplifying logistics and management for global projects.
Integration of Industrial Interfaces (Multi-Serial & I/O)
The EG3120e is equipped for direct connection to sensors, electricity meters, inverters, or PLCs without the need for external converters. It offers up to 4× RS-485, 1× RS-232, 4× digital inputs (DI), 4× digital outputs (DO), 2× analog inputs (AI), and 1× CAN bus.
RobustOS Pro Operating System
Thanks to the RobustOS Pro operating system, based on the stable Debian distribution, the gateway allows running local edge applications and custom scripts written in languages such as Python, Node.js, C/C++, or Java directly on the device. This significantly reduces the reliance on external industrial PCs, minimizes latency, and saves cloud data transmission costs.
Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet
The device includes two Ethernet ports (LAN/WAN) and optional support for a fast and stable Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) wireless network in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
Ready for RCMS Remote Management
Full integration with the Robustel Cloud Manager Service (RCMS) cloud platform allows real-time monitoring of the entire device fleet, bulk firmware updates, and remote troubleshooting without the need for a technician's dispatch.
