Industrial LAN Router Advantech ICR-2701
The Advantech ICR-2701 is an industrial router designed for communication within LAN networks. Mechanically, it is fully consistent with its successful predecessors, the XR5i v2 and XR5i v2E, which guarantee easy backward integration. In terms of hardware, however, it offers a performance increase that meets the latest technological standards.
The router's powerful processor and high-capacity eMMC storage allow it to handle even the most demanding network operations and run custom software applications. Its main advantage is the combination of software features and flexibility found in advanced 4G/5G devices with purely wired Ethernet communication.
Use of the Router in Industrial Practice
ICR-2701 LAN routers are most often used as secure LAN-WAN gateways and reliable VPN devices in a wide range of monitoring, surveillance, and data systems.
Powerful Hardware and Advanced Interface
A more powerful processor and generous data storage ensure a long device lifecycle and smooth software updates. For maximum hardware security, a TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) encryption chip is integrated, which verifies the device's integrity and protects it from unauthorised interference in both industrial and public sectors.
Connectivity for Industrial Deployment
- 2× Ethernet 10/100 ports with two independent LAN/IP addresses.
- 1× USB 2.0 host port.
- Optional Wi-Fi interface (802.11 ac, a, b, g, n) supporting AP (Access Point), Client, and Multirole modes.
Reliable Operating System and Network Functions
The device runs on the Linux-based ICR-OS operating system. An intuitive and secure web interface allows for easy configuration and management of the router from any remote location.
In terms of network security and flexibility, the ICR-2701 supports real-time data encryption and the creation of secure VPN tunnels using IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN, or GRE protocols. It naturally includes full support for standard and advanced network functions such as DHCP, NAT, NAT-T, DynDNS, NTP, and the VRRP backup protocol.
Open Platform for Industrial IoT Applications
For specific user applications and custom software development, 1.3 GB of free eMMC storage is available. Thanks to the open Linux platform, developers can program their own custom modules in Python and C/C++.
In addition to custom development, users can leverage an extensive library of ready-made applications (user modules) from Advantech. These enable easy conversion of industrial protocols, deployment of dynamic protocols, or direct integration with popular IoT cloud platforms like MS Azure, Cumulocity, and others.
Mass Deployment and Efficient Management
Thanks to the fully functional WebAccess/DMP configuration and monitoring software, deploying the router is fast and convenient, whether you are installing a single unit or managing large fleets of devices in the field.
